just putting it up here before I forget:

mc: sea faring type person, didn’t turn into a zombie because she + crew were out at sea at the time of ‘the event’. (write what you know. Might as well use my experience in that area)

the event: no one knows what the hell happened. people think virus, aliens, act of god, whatever. No one knows because the scientists/docters were among the first to die. Makes sense, no? Dude goes to the doctor feeling a little iffy. hot flashes, that sort of stuff. Doc says: fine, take off your shirt and I’ll give it a listen. Dude says ‘argh, ugh, rarr, must eat brain.’ Doc gets infected, etc. ‘Disease’ spreads really rapidly at first, then slows because there aren’t that many people left to infect.

survivors: a surprising number of childer/young people, because they still listen to their instincts. Barely any military/police folk, because they were all too busy following orders to watch their own asses.

And that’s about it. ‘Everyone breaks at some point. Some hold out longer than others, but in the end, everyone breaks. The only thing you can hope for is that there’s no one around to eat your brain when it happens.’
