and now for something completely different

And yet oddly similar to something I’ve already done ;) . The end of year evaluation was just the stuff I got from my lj and my blog, meaning it is a horribly unfair representation of what my year was like. I’m just not a happy blogger/writer. I get the bad out of my system by writing about it, and the good I celebrate with friends, family, random strangers and vague smiles into empty space. That’s just how I work. I think that’s also why I suck at writing public blogs. Most of my stuff just isn’t meant for public viewing.

And now, on to the good stuff. My likes (and some tiny dislikes) of this year, and what this means for new years resolutions which I won’t stick to anyway :D

Song of the year: I’ve mentioned it in a previous entry already, but I think it really deserves another mention: Slipknot – Vermillion. If anyone had told me a few years ago that I’d have a slipknot song for my end of year song, I’d have told them to go hump themselves. I’ll make an exception for the latest album though. It has some great songs, and this song… well. This is the song of plot. I’ve listened to it a lot while I was on the train, and whenever I closed my eyes, there was plot. That’s something. And it has Corey. And a lot of energy :D I like.

I also like Enter Shikari – Adieu. It’s one of the few songs that can make me sad and happy all in one go. And the last two minutes of it, the ecstatic ‘Home could be anywhere when I am holding you.’ That’s pretty strong. The only thing that makes this my nr. 2 of the year is the fact that there is no Corey in this song.

Movie of the year: 300 , simply because it’s had so many great lines which were so easy to apply everywhere. Sparta is indeed easily replaced with terms like ‘New Jersey’ or ‘Stella Artois’.

Runner of Movie of the year: Transformers. Oh come on… how could I not mention this one. No, it’s not a good movie, but I have been waiting for it to happen since I was about 8. <3

Concerts of the year: ok, so I’m weak and I can’t choose. Stone Sour and Metallica are tied. Stone Sour was the right thing at the right place at the right time. Holy showmanship, batman :D And Metallica at Werchter just rocked because they were finally doing what they should have done ages ago. They rocked!

All in all this year has been very good, entertainment-wise. Good movies, good music, good games, good writing, good reading, great people and a lot of other good stuff. Not so good stuff feaured: sucky people, work, school, people at work and school and people in traffic.

I think that to sum it all up, this year is the year I kind of lost patience. It’s like… I could wait around and listen to people who like to talk at you instead of with you, or I could toddle off and find some interesting people to spend time with. I could postpone certain things a little longer, or I could just do them now.
